Matthew Jessie (b.1987) is a landscape photographer based in the Appalachian Mountains of Tennessee. His work explores the concept of wilderness in the 21st century, serving as an intersection between the fleeting elements of nature and the enduring questions of human existence. He received his BFA in Studio Art from East Tennessee State University in 2015 and went on to earn his MFA in Studio Art from Arizona State University in 2020. Currently, he serves as a professor of photography at Carson-Newman University in Jefferson City, Tennessee. Jessie's works have been exhibited in the United States and internationally.
